Individual Consultations

Change does not necessarily assure progress, but progress implacably requires change.

-- Henry Steele Commager

Have things changed in your life recently? Perhaps you have lost your job and you are considering going back to school for training in a new career; or you want to stay in your profession but aren’t sure how to market yourself. Maybe you’ve been feeling stuck in your present job and want to upgrade your skills, or you wonder what skills and experience you really want to use. Or, you are thinking of retiring, and are wondering if this makes sense for you and what you can do to maintain a sense of purpose.

At the University of Minnesota Lifework Center, our masters’ level Lifework Consultant can help you explore your options and guide you as you determine your next step. She has years of experience working with adults in the field of career development and transition. Each consultation is tailored to your specific needs. This could include helping you:

  • Find and pursue more meaningful lifework
  • Transition into a higher skilled position
  • Refocus your skills and talents toward more meaningful ways of contributing to society
  • Connect to a range of educational and career resources within and external to the University of Minnesota

We look forward to meeting with you during a confidential individual lifework consultation, tailored to your specific needs. Before you come in, consider completing the Lifework Life Line exercise. It could provide insights you may choose to share with your consultant. The Career & Lifework Center also offers Transitions Workshops on various topics related to career transition, and you may find these helpful to attend prior to, or in conjunction with, your individual consultation.

As the quote at the top of this section reminds us, progress requires change.

What changes are you willing to make to experience progress in your life?

To request disability accommodations, please contact the Career and Lifework Center two weeks prior to the event.
